About 1501 T.H.R.U.S.T.

Nestled in the rural town of Huntington, Indiana, FIRST robotics team 1501 inspires students to delve into modern fields such as engineering, technology, and science. Started as team 535 in 1999 as a high school team, it was disenfranchised and came back in 2005 as a 4-H founded team. 1501 was one of the first teams founded through 4-H and the first in the state of Indiana. We have played a role in the establishment of two more Indiana 4-H teams for the 2010 season. In 2005 we started with a humble 7 students and 8 mentors, since then we have grown and kept an almost 1:1 ratio with 24 active students and 22 mentors.

1501 knows that FIRST is not just about the building of the robot. We recognize that working with our community is an important factor to robotics as well. This involvement is seen through our many community projects: working with Girl Scouts, adopt-a-highway, recycling, and our police robot. We host technology nights for girl scouts, regularly participate in cleaning up the highway, and recycle what we can. Our work in building a robotic shooting dummy for the local police has benefited our team with engineering experience as well as making our team recognizable in the community.
